Year end 2016/17
The course improvements especially on the drainage has seen the course stay open a lot more over the year which helped members to get year round golf which did not happen before at Springhead.
The Clubhouse improvements helped generate a 10% increase in bar revenue this all helps to make the club sustainable as it helps membership costs to stay the most competitive in the area.
The financial year end figures have not been finalised however Springhead on its own contributed 21k surplus to Groundwork. This I feel was an extremely good result if you take into consideration we started paying the loan and interest back for the improvements.
The year ahead 2017/18
We have warmly welcomed new members from Hull Golf Club, Hessle Golf Club, Cottingham Golf Club and Skidby Lakes. We have said goodbye to some long standing members however the overall financial figures that came out for April showed a growth in revenue for membership. This shows that as the course continually improves we will attract members from other clubs as we are the best value golf club in the area.
The new Captain Mr Glen Robinson and his vice-captain Mr David Ian Green have arranged some club matches for the coming year which has revived an old tradition and hopefully this can be built on in the coming years. We support them in their year of office and wish them a successful and enjoyable year.
We have held our first East Riding junior match and the feedback was extremely positive from the East Riding and Sheffield Union. During the year we are in discussions with not only the East Riding Union but with the Yorkshire Union to bring other events to the club.
The Pro – Am will be held on Friday 11th August, please encourage your friends and business contacts to put a team in as the more teams we get the better the prize table.
The budget for course improvements for this year has not yet been signed off however there are plans to improve the 7th pond look, repair damaged areas, sort out the 15th tee and work on the temporary greens are the main aim.
We all at the club wish an enjoyable golfing year
